Shall Ocin – Tribute To Summertime EP – Leftroom Records
Shall Ocin is Nicolas Abalos, a Spanish DJ and producer who felt in love with Electronic music in 1998. Installed in Valencia since 2006, he started to share decks with Maceo Plex (who’s also from Spain), DJ T and Audiofly, while playing in every clubs of the city. Under his first moniker Paneoh, he started producing his own tracks and saw his productions being released in 2011 on label such as Bedrock Records with the massive track “Follow”, co-produced with Maetrik.
2011 is also the first year he created his new alias Shall Ocin for his Deep-House productions. his first EP was released by Leftroom in March 2012 and this “Tribute To Summertime EP” is the second own release on the label.
The title track has been featured as the Essential Tune on a special show of BBC Radio 1 with Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler. It’s led by an astonishing melancholic and soulful vocal part, arriving from the beginning of the track with a strong beat but simple, unaltered piano notes that set up a Deep atmosphere. It drives us toward the explosion that occures minutes later with a strong bassline and ambient sounds that wraps-up your whole mind and sends it out of space.
The other track that blew us on this EP is “I Know”. It features a great acoustic side with the lead guitar melody. It really feels like a ballad in the forest at early summer season, when you’re searching and finding some fresh air, far from the bubbling city atmosphere. Anyway, here Shall Ocin is giving us a strong EP and we are waiting for his next production. Another artist to watch!
