What could we expect from the record label that goes by the name of Steyoyoke? Another blasting release? Some more enigmatic House-Music from another universe? Another talented artist coming out of nowhere, giving away the good vibes like a preacher? Oh wait… maybe there next release will be really bad? Or they might want to make it into Progressive-House and invite Tiestö on their label? Well… I’m sorry to disappoint you if you like that style of EDM, but it seems that Steyoyoke can’t lower the standards. This new EP from Sasch is another proof of their eternal renewal and innovation.
“I Just Want” is a straight House bomb with pumping bassline, Italo-Disco-like keyboards and a strong 4-to-the-floor beat. This might be the simplest track of the EP, but this our personal favourite!
“Come On” is another killer track with an amazing, multi-layered composition. It has that sort of nostalgic, oldschool feeling that we like to chill on during the summer. Soul Button disagreed with me, but the melody of the guitars reminds me the Catz’n'Dogz remix of Bibio “Lovers Craving”. Don’t you think?
Closing the EP, “Marian” goes into another direction, a little bit more Techy… in the right way. Again, the work on the synths is just crazy. The saturation and wobbling effect on the basslines are absolutely delightful. Add some more dreamy vocals to that, and you’ve got another first-class tune.
So far, Steyoyoke is following a strong path: every new release is better than the previous ones… and this EP is no exception.
Keep up the good vibes, Antwan Shalom.
