Guy Gerber – Steady EP – Supplement Facts

Commençons tout doucement – mais pas trop non plus – cette semaine avec le nouvel EP de Guy Gerber, “Steady”, sur lequel nous retrouvons l’excellent Jaw (dOP) pour un voyage froid et sombre dans l’esprit du talentueux Guy. Sur la partie remix, nous avons le plaisir d’écouter la réinterprétation de Midland, qui nous offre une version plus dynamique aux sonorités Techno. Dernier titre de l’EP, “The Golden Sun and the Silver Moon” est le pendant chaleureux de l’EP et vient compléter cette galette avec brio.

Let’s have a smooth start this week, with this brand new EP from the Electronic Music maestro Guy Gerber. Following his Fabric compilation in June, Guy delivers his “Steady EP” on his imprint Supplement Facts, accompanied by some serious talents with Jaw – from dOP – but also the amazing Midland on the remix side, author of the mindblowing “Through Motion” last year and the more recent “Placement EP” on the label Aus Music.

On “Steady”, Guy Gerber is pleasing us with a beautiful and dark song, led by an electronic guitar (bass?) melody, quickly followed by a full set of synths and a cold, mysterious vocal by Jaw, lead singer of dOP. The track is a true moment of poetry, a dark tale taken out of the mind of Guy Gerber. On the remix side, Midland gives a good kick to the track, turning into a good Techno tune and a perfect dancefloor smasher, layering down some great sub-basslines and releasing the hi-hats at 3’36” to turn everything wild.

The other track that caught our attention is the original version of “The Golden Sun and the Silver Moon” featuring Clarian. Available on the digital version of the EP and the Fabric 64 compilation, the tune is another beautiful Deep-House ballad, but this one features some sort of an ‘exotic-jungle’ feeling: a wet and steamy atmosphere that appears to be the perfect additional sound to “Steady” and its dark melody.
