Electrocorp Boombox is back and bigger than ever, bringing you the freshest grooves from the depths of the underground by the likes of Kristian Gjellan, Acasual, Matches, Flavio Acaron & Hugh Harry, SLOK, Junk Yard Rhythm Section, Kolombo and Isaac Tichauer. This playlist is exploding with new talents, huge sounds, good vibes and much love – sealed with a kiss. So, put those headphones on, turn up the volume and turn off the world. It’s time to get into the groove!
Kristian Gjellan’s massive “Be Yourself EP” was just released yesterday via the British label Yoruba Grooves and it includes three quality original tracks as well as a big remix by Londonground. This is the second release on Yoruba for the talented Norwegian producer and quite possibly, the biggest release for the label as well as for the 22-year-old artist. With origins in Techno, Kristian’s unique style is showcased throughout the entire affair. It’s deep, it’s techy and it’s boisterous. Yes, the name says it all. “Boisterous”, the second track off the release, is loud, rowdy and full of explosive energy. It’s guaranteed to make your lazy ass dance through the night and into the early morning hours.
From one big release to the next, here’s another bomb already out on vinyl and forthcoming August 20th for all you digital junkies. “The Blue EP” produced by Acasual, a mysterious newcomer delivering the second wax pressing for Deep Edition Recordings. It’s got an all-around very cool Deep-House sound with two originals and two remixes by label head Martijn and the extremely talented producer Matches. George Carrasco aka Matches is truly on top of his game this year and this remix is proof! It’s currently being charted by Audiojack, Elliot Wright, Scott Harrington and Chris Luzz on Resident Advisor. No doubt, Matches remix is a massive track with a massive bassline that has been lighting up dancefloors all around the world. Turn it up and allow some light in your life!
Now, I bring you something big and “oh! so very fresh”: an unsigned tune by the Puerto Rican Flavio Acaron and Hugh Harry. The track is entitled “Homeless” and it’s that perfect blend of old school meets new school House sound with a deliciously deep groove and vocal slices of Crystal Water’s early 90’s hit “Gypsy Woman (La da dee la da da)”. Yes, it’s that one! But, it’s nothing like that one. It’s mellower, a bit darker and far deeper than the original. Just the way I like it…
A quality reworking no doubt by the talented producers whom are showing no signs of slowing down and have numerous releases forthcoming on labels such as Soulfooled, Neim, Sincopat and Sleazy Deep. Very excited for all of these so here’s a little preview of “You Might Think I’m Crazy” which will be released on Neim in September. It’s so sexy you might need a cold shower after hearing it, or some loving from your lover, whichever you prefer. I prefer both, at the same time. Ahhh! This track is too sexy. Is it hot in here? Don’t answer that yet. Click play first and then you’ll see what I mean.
Now that we’ve turned up the heat a notch, there’s no going back. Hot off the heels from an amazing release on Alex Flatner’s label, Circle Music Germany, SLOK delivers a juicy updated version of his 2005 Saw Recordings release “Lonely Child”, on a split EP with Djuma Soundystem via My Favorite Robot Records. It’s a sexy, deep and melancholic tune incorporating those 80’s synths but with that special SLOK touch making for a slow burning, intense and extremely sultry atmospheric vibe. This one is sure to seduce the dancefloor.
I love falling under the seductive spell of Deep-House music. I am head over heels for that sexy, deep bassline and I’m always attracted to a pleasant melody with a layering of emotionally tinged vocals. Which is why I just can’t get enough of this next track, ‘Falling’ by Junk Yard Rhythm Section. It will be released by Cimelde Records on August 15th and let me tell you, I’ve been waiting in anticipation for this one. Ryan Deffes and Barrett Bonura aka Junk Yard Rhythm Section, deliver a lovely 2-tracker which includes a tantalizing remix of the title track by Belgium’s Kolombo. I must admit, I fell extremely hard for this one. By spotlighting the intoxicating vocals and adding a bit more bounce to the groove, Kolombo turned “Falling” into a highly addictive Deep-House tune.
It seems that love is in the air as we are nearing the end of this week’s playlist. Well, for me, love is always in the air because music is love and music is life. I am hopelessly devoted to music and so is Australian producer Isaac Tichauer who was hard at work for the past 6 months producing “Devotion” a ,9 track album which he then released for free on the label French Express. Sounds crazy? Well, it is no secret that love will make you do crazy things. You can download every single track via Soundcloud and every single track is well worthy of it too. It’s like Christmas in August but without the stench of greed and soggy egg nog permeating the air. It’s even better! How could I possibly post just one track from this lovely release? Here’s the entire album: one full hour of “ethereal, metaphysical, futuristic, classic, atmospheric, tribal & tropical House Music.” Dance your little heart out.
Much love, Dena.
