Yes! The weekend has finally arrived! Whether your week turned out to be good or bad, let me tell you, it doesn’t even matter because music is the answer and this week’s Boombox is fully loaded with some deliciously fresh tunes from the likes of Adriatique & Audino, Alex Preda, Addo, Piek, Grosstone, Detroit Swindle, Fabo, Soul Button and Monte. It’s time to dance and these grooves are guaranteed to make your body ‘bump & flex’ in ways you’ve never bumped and flexed before. You ready? Let’s go! Music on. World off.
Kicking things off are two young and talented Romanian producers, Alex Preda and Addo, turning up the heat with a tune that’s tough enough to please the masculine senses and groovy enough to get the ladies dancing. The wicked synth work, deep bassline and macho vocals are so big and bad it will leave you feeling like you’re larger than life. So lace up those boxing gloves…I mean, dancing shoes and turn it up!
Well, well, well, are you feeling like you can now take on the world? I hope you are because guess who is coming? Piek is coming and this dude packs a powerful punch. With extreme passion and versatility, the music he creates reaches across the entire spectrum of sounds in the underground House scene. Since 2004, he’s released on a lengthy list of labels including Diynamic, Cecille, Smoke n’Mirrors and Azari Records just to name a few and he can often be found working alongside a few partners in crime with heavyweight artists such as Uner, Danny Serano or Miguel Toro. Sounds intimidating? Not for new kids on the block Grosstone. The duo most definitely threw down like seasoned pros and delivered a spectacular remix proving that they have all the skills to play with the big guys in the big leagues. Trust me, this tune is so good, you will not be able to listen to it just once… repeat!
You know, I’m not afraid to admit that, like most of you ladies out there, I’m a sucker for those bad boys. Nice guys almost always finish last. Am I right? Well, I think it’s time to get deep, real deep. And what better way to go deep than with a Soul Button remix? The mystery man expertly reworks Fabo’s vocal heavy, pop tune into a Deep-House haven, laying down a sexy rolling bass line and then sprinkling it with his touch of Soul. Ladies, watch out! This groove goes so deep you’ll fall in love with it over and over again upon every listen. Though it’s still unreleased, it will be out on Neurotraxx Recordings this fall. You boys are such a tease…
Ahh… Well, one can never have too much Soul. Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets aka Detroit Swindle are 2 guys born and raised in Amsterdam who produce Deep-House music flavored with a bit of Funk, Soul, and all that Jazz. Their productions usually combine a groovy melody with a bouncing bassline and a vocal sampling of a classic Soul track to create a tune that’s always dancefloor ready. And look! It’s a free download! Grab it here.
How many of you have been waiting patiently since last year for this track to finally be released? Well the wait is almost over! On August 1st “All the Ladies” by Adriatique & Audino will be available on Wolf + Lamb Black, the vinyl-only-releases-of-clever-edits label. Part of the “Silent Partners Edits”, Adriatique & Audino’s infectiously groovy rework of Jamie Woon’s hit tune “Lady Luck” will be accompanied by two other dancefloor bombs from Johnny Rock and C-Edits. Now, fill your soul and keep on moving.
We’ve reached the end again, so I leave you with the biggest, brightest, happiest tune of the week. Monte “True” has just been released on JEUDI Records, the imprint founded by Adana Twins, Doctor Dru & Davide. Yeah, it’s BIG, it’s groovy, it’s deep and funky. The ultimate cure for all your blues… Just smile and get back into the groove already.
Much Love, Dena.
